John A.D. Leake, M.D.

Dr. John Leake, board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases, joined Children's Specialists Division of Infectious Diseases in July 2000.

Before joining Children's Specialists, Dr. Leake was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. He also worked as a CDC technical advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) African Regional Office.

Dr. Leake will continue to work half time for CDC to improve control of infectious disease in sub-Saharan Africa.

After earning a master's degree in public health from the University of California, Los Angeles, he received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He completed a pediatric residency and fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at UCSD/Children's Hospital.

Dr. Leake was the recipient of Children's Research Support Fund in 1999 and also received a UCSD Pediatric Residency Faculty Teaching Award in 1999 and 2000. He has also been awarded a research grant to study acute disseminated encephalomyelitis at Children's.
